Details about

The Labrador Retriever is a well-balanced sporting dog.  Weight in this breed ranges from 55 to 80 pounds, with heights ranging between 21.5-24.5, males tend to be on the larger side. Labradors have a dense coat that comes in black, chocolate and yellow. Their head is wide and accented with eyes that seem to make everything feel better.

Labs are famous for how friendly they are. They share strong bonds with their family and are easily sociable. These dogs do pack alot of energy though, so be ready to exercise them alot.

Grooming A Lab's Coat

Labradors are a dream when it comes to grooming. They have a water repellent double coat which doesn’t require brushing, and baths are something that should happen every so often. Now, they will shed, so be ready to find fur around the house.

Exercising This Sporting Breed

This breed has energy! Exercising this sporting breed is a must. Be prepared to implement a work out time for your pup on the daily. A Lab who doesn’t receive enough exercise will most likely develop unwanted behavior. Two things Labs love to partake in are swimming and retrieving. But a simple walk or run that happens daily will be enough to keep the Lab entertained and in good spirits.

Training A Labrador Retriever

Labs are intelligent and enthusiastic companions who love to engage with their families. Training should be fairly easy with this breed, and they make for great emotional support and service dogs. Beginning training as early as 7 weeks to 4 months makes things much easier, as it prevents bad habits from forming. Socialization around this time frame is also recommended, as dogs who grow up isolated from others tend to become aggressive towards other canines as adults.

All in all the Labrador Retriever is a very affectionate breed, making for a great family dog. So if you are looking for an active companion who can easily adapt to new places and situations. The Labrador Retriever might be just the dog for you.
